Instagram bio examples for tattoo artists and studios
Find a clear way to introduce your work, location, and booking status, with Instagram bio examples you can adapt.

A useful Instagram bio tells a potential client three things quickly: what you tattoo, where you work, and what they should do next. It does not need your whole story. It needs enough detail for the right person to recognise a fit and take the next step.
The short version
- Name your main style or subject matter in ordinary language.
- Include your city, studio, or current guest spot.
- State whether your books are open, closed, or opening on a date.
- Use one clear action, such as “Booking form below”.
- Keep temporary news in the bio only while it is current.
A simple tattoo artist bio formula
Start with this structure, then cut anything your profile already makes obvious:
[Tattoo style or subjects] in [city] · [studio or guest dates] · [booking status] · [next action]
The formula is a starting point, not a rule. An artist with a distinctive name field may not need to repeat “tattoo artist”. Someone travelling regularly may need the next city more than their home studio. The useful information changes, but the job of the bio stays the same.
Instagram bio examples for tattoo artists
The following examples are fictional and designed to be adapted. Replace every location, style, date, and link instruction with your own details.
For an artist with a clear style
Fine-line botanicals and small ornamental work
Melbourne, at Fern House
Books open for November
Send your idea through the form ↓
Why it works: the first line gives clients useful visual direction, while the last two lines answer “Can I book?” and “How?”. It avoids broad claims such as “all styles welcome” that could blur the artist's strongest work.
For an artist who wants more flash bookings
Bold colour, strange creatures, good flowers
Sydney · Northside Tattoo
Flash and custom requests open
Available designs + booking ↓
Why it works: the voice has personality, but the booking language remains literal. “Available designs” is more useful than a vague “see my links”.
For an artist whose books are closed
Blackwork and illustrative tattoos · Brisbane
Books closed · reopening 6 February
Join booking updates below ↓
Why it works: closed books are not a dead end. A real reopening date, or an honest “date not set”, prevents clients from guessing. Only offer updates if you actually have a way to send them.
For an artist on a guest spot
Dark ornamental tattooing
Adelaide · 14 to 18 March
Limited guest requests open
Adelaide enquiry form ↓
Why it works: the temporary city and dates take priority. Once the guest spot ends, switch the bio back promptly so an old trip does not keep collecting the wrong enquiries.
Instagram bio examples for tattoo studios
A studio bio has a different job. It should help visitors find the location, understand the mix of artists, and choose the right contact path. These examples are also fictional and adaptable.
For an appointment-led studio
Private tattoo studio in Fremantle
Resident and guest artists
Browse artists before sending an enquiry ↓
For a studio that takes walk-ins
Custom tattooing in Newcastle
Walk-ins subject to artist availability
Artists, hours, and enquiries ↓
“Walk-ins subject to availability” is clearer than promising access the studio cannot guarantee. Put current opening hours and artist-specific booking instructions on the linked page where there is room to maintain them properly.
What to leave out
- A list of every style you could tattoo. Lead with the work you want people to request.
- Unexplained shorthand. “DMs closed” says what not to do, but clients still need the correct route.
- Old dates. Expired guest spots and booking windows make the whole profile feel unattended.
- Several competing calls to action. Choose the most useful next step and let your link page hold the rest.
Do a five-minute bio check
- Read only the bio, without looking at recent posts.
- Underline the words that describe the work you want.
- Check that your current location and booking status are explicit.
- Follow the link and confirm its first option matches the bio.
- Remove one line that is outdated, repeated, or only decorative.
Your Instagram bio is the sign on the door. Keep the full story for your About page, portfolio, and booking information. Here, make the fit and the next click easy to understand.
